Sanitation plays a major part in the community. Sanitation is the hygienic means of promoting health
through prevention of human contact with the hazards of wastes. Ensuring proper sanitation and cleanliness of different places in the community is extremely important as it helps give people a healthier and cleaner environment.
Sanitation is ensured in different types of industry especially in the food service, agriculture, and healthcare industries. In the food service industry, sanitation workers are responsible for keeping restaurants, cafeterias, grocery stores, and bars safe and comfortable for customers. Some even designate sanitation managers to oversee other employees and make sure that nothing is neglected or cleaned improperly.
Just as how sanitation is extremely important in the food industry, so it is in the healthcare industry especially in the hospitals. Hospitals are daily bombarded with germs, bacteria, viruses, and other infections which may cause further diseases to patients, hospital workers and other people staying in the hospital. Therefore, hospital cleaning should be an absolute priority in every hospital to combat the staggering amounts of germs which are brought in every day.
Hospital cleaning may include but is not limited to ensuring the cleanliness of hospital and medical equipments. Patients’ beds and mattresses must always be checked if it is regularly changed and washed. The food and the utensils being used for making food must be always clean away from bacteria. Toilet facilities should be thoroughly cleaned several times during the day. Also, any contaminated materials like bd insulin syringes, needles, drips or bedding should be collected separately from other waste and incinerated on the hospital site, well away from patients, to kill any germs present.
Disposal of human wastes from hospitals must also be checked during outbreaks or epidemic of infectious diarrheal disease as the treatment of stools and vomit is an important factor in controlling the spread of diseases. Therefore, proper disposal of these human wastes would be extremely helpful in order to maintain the safety of the people in and outside the hospital.
Health is one of the major focus and concern of every hospital. As sanitation plays a major part to ensure a healthy environment, it is just right to spend time, money and effort checking the on cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital areas.
